I like to read poetry !
Poetry is great!

To write a poem
It is really very easy
Just think for something
And keep your imagination busy

To write a poem
It doesn’t take to long
You can write short poems
Nothing could be wrong

If you want to write a poem
And you don’t have any ideas
You can write about anything
Animal’s, anger, Clothes or tears

Do you think poems are boring?
I think they are fun, well that’s me
My opinion for poems is that they are great
Hopefully you agree

I wrote this poem when I was at the age of 6 to 7

That’s a wonderful collection, indeed. Along a similar young-skewing line is an anthology called Here’s a Little Poem (put together by Jane Yolen). 61 poems great for reading aloud AND it’s a beautiful book.

And thanks for the opportunity to share my love of children’s poetry here!

I don't read as much poetry as I should, but I recently discovered a great anthology that my 4 year old son and I LOVE: The Bill Martin Jr Big Book of Poetry We found some old favorites like Prelutsky but found some new ones as well.
