Libraries are Green Giveaway
I would not claim to be “green,” but I’m greener than I was, and I’m interested in learning about changes I can make to get greener. That’s one reason I love the new 5 Minutes for Going Green site. Each week I get information on small changes I should be and could be making to reduce my carbon footprint.
One area that I have mastered is taking my own canvas bags to the grocery store. In addition to the fact that they are reusable and not plastic, they hold more and they are sturdier than those plastic bags they go through by the hundreds (thousands?) at the grocery store.
I’ve recently expanded my use of these canvas bags. They are perfect for loading up items for a picnic at the park (which is more environmentally friendly than stopping at McDonald’s). I love to use them when I’m packing up stuff for a weekend away, and in addition to grocery shopping, I use my totes each week by taking them to the library.
I am the mother of two little bookworms, and of course I love to read too, so our trips to the library result in more than one book a piece. My four-year-old usually comes home with a Thomas DVD, a Thomas book or two, and maybe another book if I’ve been able to convince him to look beyond the foot of space devoted to the Reverend W. Auden’s collected works. My nine-year-old always gets at least three or four books and finishes them in time to return them the following week. Since I am up to my ears in review copies, I stay away from fiction at the library, but I often bring home a (heavy) cookbook or two.
My minusbags canvas tote works perfectly for this. It doesn’t have a store logo emblazoned on it, and it’s not that thin canvas that I’ve acquired for 99 cents.
It got me to thinking that using the library is a very green practice:
- Libraries use and reuse resources—one book purchased by the library will be enjoyed by many people, as opposed to buying my own copy of a book and reading it and then letting it take up space on my bookshelf.
- Using the library saves fuel—my library is much closer to me than any bookstore. Even if I shop online (which is honestly how I buy 95% of my books), those books I order are shrink-wrapped, packed and shipped across country resulting in used fuel.
- Using the library supports the community – even though I’m not technically consuming, staying local is good for the local economy.
Would you like to win one of two gorgeous minusbags totes? Leave a comment here telling me your favorite part of using the library. I'll draw two winners on August 20 (The giveaway is now closed. Thanks for all your great comments about libraries).

My favorite part of using the library is probably the new fiction section. I love finding new books! Thanks!
#2 - T with Honey @ 3:19 pm
My favorite part about using the library is the lack of clutter accumulating in my house. We have shelves upon shelves of books in our office. Dusting them is a royal pain.
Since we started using the library earlier this year our collection hasn't grown. In fact we are going to be freeing up more space by donating many of our books to the library.
#3 - stephanie @ 3:27 pm
I love so many things about the library - interlibrary loan, that it is air-conditioned in the summer, the computers my girls can play on, preschool story time, summer reading programs … too many things to pick just one. We try and go every other week and stock up.
#4 - Judy J. @ 3:39 pm
The library is a stress reliever/money saver for me; a place with no phones to answer, no dishes to put away, no clothes to iron and no charge for reading books…my favorite stress reliever of all.
#5 - Alyce @ 3:40 pm
My favorite part of visiting the library is the sense of community that I find there. When I moved to our small town the library was one of the first places that I got to know people and I quickly became friends with the librarians. Now a visit to the library means my kids will get to chat with the librarian about their favorite books, and the librarian may have set something aside with just them in mind. I love that kind of personalized service which is harder to find at a big city library.
#6 - Jennifer @ 3:52 pm
My favorite part of using the library is being able to peruse the variety of books, read a little of one and find out whether that author is one I would enjoy - without spending a dime! My daughter can go her way, I can go mine and we meet up to enjoy our selections together. Thank you for the chance to win a great tote!
#7 - Tammy Gordon @ 3:58 pm
I love that I can read all the newest books without having to purchase them
#8 - Wendy @ 4:48 pm
I have always enjoyed watching my daughter search for a book at the library and the look of happiness on her face when she finds it! Usually it is a book that she has already read in her Language Arts class and she wants to share it with me or just enjoy it again. The library is one of our most favorite places to visit.
#9 - Tabitha @ 4:50 pm
My favorite part of going to the library is that my kiddos can play. Our library was built with children in mind so they can play chess or checkers, build with legos or blocks, work puzzles, or play with puppets. They also have their own set of computers that they can play games on.
#10 - Casey @ 4:51 pm
I just love the library. I always have. When I was younger, I used to go to the library every Monday night after school to get 90 minutes of uninterrupted reading before my dad picked me up on his way home from work.
Right now, my favorite (and my boys' favorite) part of the library is probably the big pirate ship that was an Eagle Scout project donated to the library several years ago.
#11 - Veggiemomof2 @ 4:55 pm
I love libraries because they it's the one place I can go with my 2 preteen kids & we can all find something we like. Sometimes my daughter isn't into reading, but will flip thru a few fashion magazines or get an audio-book.
Love the diversitivity.
#12 - Karen @ 5:07 pm
I love storytime. They have glass windows in the story room and you drop your kids off and are free to look around or sit in a comfy chair and read for an hour while they read several books to the children and have activities such as music and crafts for them. You can still keep an eye on them, and the kids can see you, yet you both get a much needed break from one another.
#13 - Meredith Foster @ 5:08 pm
I don't have to spend money on the books I want to read. They have a great selection of books and it is very close. Also, my library has an option at check out where you can email your reciept home and not waste paper on something that you are just going to throw away.
#14 - Jennifer @ Quiverfull Family @ 5:16 pm
Well, we have a small, rural library, but it surprisingly well stocked! I like libraries, because they are free, and you can get interlibrary loans!
#15 - Maria @ 5:19 pm
I love our library for so many reasons—a variety of books on so many topics and interests. It helps keep the clutter down at our home (though there are hundreds of books in our small house). I'm a third grade teacher and I use the library for resources of read aloud books for my class. I like that if I check out a book and don't like it, I don't feel guilty not finishing it (which I would feel if I bought it myself).
I think one reason I love the library is because it holds many happy memories of summer reading programs from my childhood. My mother taking us to the library is a very fond memory.
I bought a "tote bag" from our library to hold our library books but I'd love to win one of your fun bags!
#16 - Kristinia-Loving Heart Mommy @ 5:22 pm
I love the fact that you are doing the Classics and that the Children's classics are coming up! I hope this encourages more and more people to read!

Aside from the fact that using my library has made me much more discriminating when actually I buy books, I love being able to reserve books online. I get an email when my books are ready and I simply walk in and pick them up off the reserved shelf. I can then either make it a quick trip or use the rest of my time to supervise and help my boys get their books.
We decorated canvas bags last year for the boys to use as their library bags. They love them.
Awesome giveaway.
#18 - brandiandboys @ 7:10 pm
our library has the best programs for children! love Nashville Public Library!
i also love that it is FREE!
#19 - Antonette @ 7:32 pm
Our library installed a great new feature on it's website. It allows readers to choose to track what they've read from the library.
Before this was offered, I had to keep track of what I was checking out and reading from the library. I could never call in and ask them to look back in their records to see what I had checked out once the books were returned.
Now at the end of each month, I can simply cut and paste my library book lists into my excel spreadsheet. No more typing each one in.
I love the reading groups for finding new titles or genres to try out.
We have a great interlibrary loan system with 8 other branches, so if my library doesn't have a particular title, I can request it be sent to my location to pick up.
My mom's book group uses the library to reserve multiple copies of our monthly picks. They will make sure that we have as many copies we need at one location for pickup. And it doesn't matter that our group is not a library run book group!
#20 - Martha C @ 8:06 pm
I love our library! The thing I love is that you can check if the book you want is in and if it's not, they will call you when it makes it to your library. It's great to read what you want and maybe what you didn't think you'd like (I just read biographies on George Strait and Bob Newhart). I need a cool new bag.
#21 - stephaniesmommybrain @ 9:02 pm
Where do I begin?! I love the library. I can remember going to the library as a preschooler. Now that I have 3 (soon 4) children of my own the library is a big part of our lives. When we pull into the parking lot all of my kids get excited and yell. = )
Since Rhode Island is so small, all (almost all) the libraries in the state are connected in one giant online catalog. This allows me far greater options than I'd have in just my local library.
But the best part of the library is that it's FREE! I'd never be able to buy or borrow from a friend all the books my children and I read. The library expands our reading ability without pinching my budget.
#22 - Corinne @ 9:09 pm
My girls and I love the library! What a great way to try a book outside your usual genre. It's also a great way to find delightful children's books. I really need this tote - my kids have been known to take home 8 or 9 books at a time!
#23 - Kim @ 9:47 pm
I love how you can always find a new book to fall in love with every time you go.
#24 - Annie (Adventures In Mommyland) @ 9:49 pm
That is so funny, I did a post on the "green" issues dealing with books and the library today too. Great minds think alike. Love the blog by the way! Count me in for the totes, they are so cute!
#25 - Jennifer C @ 11:18 pm
I would definitely put these to good use!
#26 - Stacy @ 11:33 pm
I love that the library lets me take their books for FREE! I can leave with a huge stack of books and not have to hand over a credit card.
I also love that my library stocks books on tape and that those are also free! I drive a lot for work and listen to them in the car during the day. I wouldn't be able to afford to buy all of the books on tape that I've listened to.
#27 - Krista @ 12:00 am
Can I just say that I *heart* my library forever? It is the best small town library ever! You can mail order any book, CD, etc. that they have and it will come directly to your door. Hi, save on the gas to and from the library! Especially with all the trips I would be making!
Plus they have a large inventory and are connected to almost half the libraries in the state so if they don't have it someone is sure to and you can get it from them!
Double plus, you can request that the buy new books that you want, I've done it twice and it is really painless and quite fast. And then you get to be the first reader! How fun is that?!!
Love 'em!
Never fear, this bag would get plenty of use, if not from library books then from grocery shopping and trips to the park and everything else! (and I'm sure we will be visiting the library more as my son gets old enough to pick out his own books!)
#28 - Ruth @ 12:16 am
I love that I can "try before I buy". Especially with authors that I'm unfamiliar with — when I buy a book, I want to know that I'm going to like it. The library has saved me a lot of money and a lot of frustration!
#29 - jenna @ 12:34 am
I love that it teaches my kiddos responsibility and delayed gratification - we are using these books for awhile and then we return them (in the same condition as when we checked them out). If we really loved one book, we buy it at the store, after a week to think about it.
My kids also like the self-checkout option at our library… like at the grocery store!
#30 - Michele @ 1:30 am
Where to start? There are so many things that I love about my local library. My favorite would be it's online website where I can renew my checked out books and request a hold on a book that I would like to read. It is also so wonderful how they will place that book at which ever library location you desire.
Most importantly though it's a HUGE money saver…where else can you get books to read for free?!
#31 - Alexis @ 6:40 am
My library has a request system that you can track online to see what spot you are. I love looking to see how far my name has moved up the list.
#32 - Michelle @ 8:28 am
I am getting addicted to my canvas/mesh shopping bags too!! My favorite part of the library is the fact that I can go on line, request what I want and they have it waiting for me when I get there!
#33 - Liz @ 9:05 am
I love browsing at libraries - it's like a bookstore but free. Occasionally I go on my own, with an Ipod, and go thru the new fiction section reading the backs of books…what fun!
#34 - Julie @ 9:19 am
My favorite parts of the library are definitely the online catalog and interlibrary loan features. Without leaving home I can search for and place holds on books I want for homeschool or personal use. Then the library e-mails me when they are ready to be picked up! It doesn't get better than that.
#35 - Ariel @ 9:39 am
My favorite section of the library would have to be new releases. I could be in a library for hours just resding the backs of books.
#36 - Gail @ 11:03 am
I love that I can leave with books to borrow instead of buy! I can get books on tape for car trips. And they can get most any book I request with interlibrary loan! What's not to love…I've loved the library since I was a little girl.
#37 - Melissa P. @ 11:58 am
I can't think of anything about the library I don't like, except maybe having to wait for something!
–I love that they have all of the new releases in books, DVDs, audio books, etc.
–If they don't have something, I can either request that they buy it (and they have never turned down anything I've requested) or I can get it through ILL.
–Everything I need to do can be done by computer, from putting books on hold to renewing, to the library notifying me that a hold has come in.
–We go there so often that every person knows me and gets my holds ready for check-out when they see me coming in the door.
–Fantastic twice yearly sales
I can't tell you how much money I have saved over the years with the library. It is worth every single tax penny we pay for it.
#38 - Megret @ 12:58 pm
I love everything about the library - - the quietness, the smell, the way I get inspired to read (and write) just by walking in the door. I love finding tons of good books for me and the kids and stopping on the way out to pick up some good music CDs, too. Another resource I use often: Cookbooks from the library. The library is truly a wealth of great treasures!
Megret
#39 - Blessed @ 1:58 pm
I love the library - all of it
Right now the best thing the library does for me is keep me from spending money by giving me new things to listen to and read
As my little one gets bigger I'm excited about enrolling her in their programs, especially since we plan to homeschool and I want her to experience other types of learning environments and activities as she is growing up.
#40 - Stacy at Exceedingly Mundane @ 2:41 pm
What's not to love about the library? As you said, it is a great green practice because one book can be shared by many. I love that it's free and I don't have to pay to be a member. I love that I can get videos and cookbooks there also. I love that I can enjoy the book and then not worry about it cluttering up my bookshelves. I love that they get new releases in and you can get on the wait list and get them. Several times, I've been the first to read a new book and there's something really cool about that
#41 - TheAngelForever @ 9:00 pm
My favorite part about using the library is the look on my son's face when we go in. He loves being able to pick from all of the books/DVDs and taking them home. It really is nice to be able to use the library, taxes well spent.
#42 - Amanda D. @ 10:29 pm
One of my favorite parts of the library is storytime (of course!), but another is self-checkout! No lines, and quick for in-and-out!
#43 - Lisa (Morning Rose) @ 11:36 pm
My favorite part of using the library is the online reservation system. I never need to look for a book on the shelf! I also love that everything is free.
#44 - Deb - Mom of 3 Girlsd @ 2:12 am
My favorite part of using the library is being able to read as many books as I want without worrying about cost.
#45 - Michelle @ 7:03 am
The think that I like best about the library is that I can use it to check out books ahead of time that I am thinking about purchasing. It saves me money and waste, by not buying something that I would end up not using if it doesn't meet my needs.
#46 - Jen @ 11:32 am
My favorite–everything. Seriously, how can I pick one thing I like best about the library. I love introducing my kids to the joy of reading through the wealth of resources the library offers: a beautiful kids' room, story times, puppet shows, a summer reading program with fun prizes. I love using it to fulfill all my own reading desires. And lately I've been discovering new music I like (and some I don't) by randomly grabbing a new CD from their large music collection on my way to check out every week.
Yes, I love, love, love the library and just yesterday I was commenting to the library that I need a new library bag because my current one isn't big enough to hold all our loot every week!
#47 - Diana Dang @ 12:38 pm
What I love about the library is that the fact I don't have to purchase some books to read it. I do not have the money to afford so many books, knowing my taste. The library does it for me by letting me borrow the books and I can enjoy it all for free.
#48 - Ginny @ 6:12 pm
I read at least a couple books a week, so if it wasn't for the library providing free books, I'd hardly read. I also just love our libraries programs that offer for kids, teens & adults. I love my library so much!
#49 - casual friday everyday @ 6:53 pm
One is the memories it brings back. We used to live in the library as children. We were homeschooled and restricted with our TV viewing so books were our world for entertainment. I still remember going to the library, spending (what felt like) hours browsing books and taking them home to enjoy! Ahhh the library, so special.
:–) Nell
#50 - Nancy @ 10:42 pm
I LOVE the library. I spent 45 minutes there today, going through the kids books looking for something for my 5 year old son, taking a trip down memory lane. I'm at the library at least once a week, returning books or taking out new ones. I got a library card shortly after moving here 6 years ago and it has completely halted my buying of books. I bought a few books recently for the first time in years, using a gift card I got for Christmas in 2006.
I also love the inter-library loan, I can get any book in the county.
#51 - Judith @ 2:16 am
ONE favorite part about the library?!? There are so many wonderful parts about the library! Not spending money on buying books, checking out audio books for long car trips, my pre-school niece's sounds of glee when the car approaches the library, interlibrary loan, requesting books online and the list could go on and on.
#52 - MIchelle Pendergrass @ 8:02 am
My favorite part about using the library is that my son has learned to love it as much as me!
#53 - Iva @ 11:45 am
I have discovered so many terrific authors that I would have never even found if not for the library. My library experience is a bit like a blog experience - I usually find them from a book of a book of a book (or a link of a link of a link).
#54 - Brook @ 12:39 pm
My favorite part about our library is that they allow you to reserve books from other branches of the library system and have them sent to your home branch for free. With four little boys and being a very avid reader myself, we check out a minimum of 50 books per week. I would love bags for the boys to carry their own books in rather than carrying them all in a plastic milk crate and one canvas library bag.

#57 - Layla @ 9:00 pm
I love everything about our library, and it's only 2 miles away from our house. I really like the kids reading/playing area. After we pick out our books, my son plays with the blocks and toys and I get to read in peace. He knows that he has to be quiet, so it's a nice little break for me. My son's favorite thing about the library (aside from the books and blocks) is putting the books in the return chute.

What's not to love about unlimited books? There's no way I could buy all the books we want to read, and that's why libraries are so great!
#59 - Cindi @ 11:37 pm
Hi, A wonderful giveaway tote! Our family makes a once a week trip to our town's library. They children's area is fantastic. There are little chairs and a carpeted area with steps for seats. Our sons think it is big stuff to each have their own library card to check out their books! Thanks, Cindi

I like to listen to them when I walk.

I must admit that I have a tremendous fondness for libraries. Not only am I a bookworm, but I am also a school library media specialist - the newfangled term for a school librarian! All the previous mentioned reasons to love the library are wonderful. I would like to add that I love the library staff and volunteers. Libraries certainly support the practice of life-long learning. Librarians will help you with library technology, finding information on-line or in various other forms. Your current curiosity or "wondering about" is now theirs as well when you ask for help. They will help you find whatever you need in the way of information. I have always thought that if I went on "Millionaire", my life line would be the smartest research desk librarian I could find!
#62 - Debbie @ 9:38 am
What is not to love about the library. I love the catalog online so I can make out my TBR list before I even leave home. Also, I love that it is a destination my whole family enjoys. As a matter of fact, we're headed there today.

My daughter loves coming home with 10 books that are new, and different from anything she has at home. And she gets to play ont he computer while I pick out the books.
#64 - Becky @ 4:21 pm
The books. It seems a bit too obvious, but I love browsing the shelves–be it kids, teens, or adult section–and finding books. Books that I've never heard of that look interesting. New authors. New books. New genres even. I like using the library because it gives me a chance to explore and experiment. I would never have the freedom to buy books that widely, but I can "take a chance" on new authors, new genres, etc. at the local library.
#65 - nicole @ 5:45 pm
My favorite thing about the library is the risk-free aspect. I can choose a bunch of books and if I don't like one, it didn't cost me anything! Really, I just think the idea of a library is fantastic and such a great part of my family's life. It teaches my kids responsibility too, as they learn to take care of and keep track of their books.
#66 - Jana (sidetrack'd) @ 9:35 pm
I like that I can check out books that I would enjoy reading but that I am not interested enough to buy. I like that I can always find something to read when I need a new book.
#67 - Dana @ 9:50 pm
I love the programs out library has…especially the summer reading program and the kids story time. My kids LOVE that time to spend at the library and it has helped spur the love of books we started at home!

My favorite part of the library is the money I save using i. Ours offers museum passes, interlibrary loan and so many great summer programs. The libririans are also fantastic!~

My favorite part of the library is watching the looks on my childrens faces when they find a book that they really want. We homeschool so it is a great way to get alot of books on different this we are studing about. My favorite new features at my library are the drive through window and the computerized waiting list for the most popular books and dvds. The Drive through allows me to get my books quickly, and the computer allows me to automate my book "wish" list. Thanks.
#76 - Linda @ 9:17 am
Well, I might be the tiniest bit biased about libraries, because I'm a librarian.
But I'm a patron too, and some of my favorite things are the audio books (both on cd, and downloadable!), and trying out new authors without shelling out a penny for them.
#77 - Maja @ 9:38 am
I like the library beacuse my son hets to play, pick his own books, meet new kids, he participates in story time, and there are lot of kid movies and cartoons to rent.
#78 - Elaine @ 9:38 am
I love that the library is accessible to everyone and at a small yearly fee.

#85 - Julie D @ 11:01 am
My favorite part about the library is variety. There is something for every member of the family and for every mood. Whether I want to read a good mystery or listen to the latest CD's or just watch a movie. Our library has an online system so you can browse and reserve from home which is really convenient.

love the groups, the resale shop, the new section but most of all th elook of the kids when they find a new book and sit and open it up right there and get into it and start another adventure and often learn thru those adventures (also another bonus- its cost effective- free rentals of books and dvds!)

my favorit part of using the library is that it allows me to read books that I coud never afford to buy. Also I believe that books can take you wherever your imagination dreams of.
#94 - Milton Hicks @ 1:02 pm
I love the genealogy records. Its stepping back in to history.
#95 - Angie E @ 1:32 pm
Hi,
My favorite part of using the library is the audiobooks on tape and CD!! Because I am busy, I just don't have time to read like I used to, and this way I can listen to them! Our little library has quite a nice selection!
Good for you for taking your own totebags to the grocery store, park, etc. I must try to be better!
Thanks for the great giveaway and good luck to you!

My favorite thing about the library is rather out-of-date: card catalogs in wooden drawers. When I was a child, there was something thrilling and magical about those long, narrow drawers filled with cards containing the names of books.
#97 - Hil'Lesha @ 2:02 pm
I love being surrounded by books. ~lol~
#98 - lorene @ 2:04 pm
Every summer I sign my kids up for the various library groups that they have. This year their favorite was the guy who made balloon animals.
#99 - tanya wilson @ 2:48 pm
I love that it is free, of course!
#100 - Hesper Fry @ 2:49 pm
I love everything about the library. Sharing with others and not charging money for it is great!
#101 - Mannon @ 3:01 pm
My small town library lets us use the next town's over!
#102 - cindy a @ 3:18 pm
I just love being around books and glancing through them
#103 - Pat @ 3:22 pm
My favorite thing to do at the library is to use one of the computers to
visit the "5 Minutes for Mom" and "5 Minutes for Books" sites. Such cool sites and I learn so much!
Thanks for the contest.

Ever since I was a kid, libraries have been like a sanctuary for me. It's quiet and full of the resources that I love. It's a haven.

When I was a child, it was a huge treat to go to the library every other Saturday. I raised my children to use the library (and they do). Finally my husband discovered the library and all it offers. I find new authors and we can find books on how-to-do almost anything.
#106 - Diana Corlett @ 4:05 pm
When I leave the library with a bag full of new adventures in the offing, I feel rich beyond my means! I have found so much reading pleasure between the pages of books from the library through all the years of my life.

#108 - Erica C. @ 4:10 pm
I love going to the kid area in the library. the kids get to sit with other kids and talk about the books and it's a lot of fun for them!
#109 - Jackie B. @ 4:10 pm
The best part of the library is that it is all free for the taking. You can get so much entertainment out of one trip to the local library. You can catch up on local news through the newspapers, the latest fashion in the magazines, rent movies for Friday night movie night, cds for listening to on the way to work, and books on any subject from fun fiction to how to make a cake!
#110 - Tammie @ 4:36 pm
My favorite part of using the library is on-line!
#111 - Kristyn Martin @ 4:45 pm
My favorite part of the library is the wide selection! You can find old and new books all in the same place! Thanks for the giveaway!
#112 - Andrea R @ 4:50 pm
I really NEED a new library bag! I love so many things about the library. I special order new release fiction books & they email me when they're ready to pick up. I read 1-2 books per week so if I paid for them & only read them once it would be a waste of money & paper.
#113 - Meredith Peters @ 4:52 pm
My favorite part of using the library is being able to get any book because the library can order it from another library!!
#114 - Lindsay @ 6:01 pm
I love when you can find older books that are out of print.
#115 - Betty N @ 6:02 pm
I love my grandchildren's library! You can pick out books on line and they will be sent to your house (You do have to return them and the packaging). When they return books, they look for more. Mom, Dad and all four kids are book lovers so they always have a pile of books checked out. The library provides such a rich resource for a variety of reading materials; it is so wonderful to see even the 3 year old "reading" his books.
#116 - Ginny @ 6:13 pm
love all the new adventures every time I open a book of course
#117 - Amanda @ 6:42 pm
My favorite part of using the library is the online reservation system. I never need to look for a book on the shelf!
#118 - Mia J. @ 6:53 pm
My favorite part about using the library is being able to put books on hold. It saves a lot of time. I also just like to be able to peruse the aisles and see what looks good. I love books.
#119 - C. clemens @ 7:04 pm
great!
#120 - Anne @ 7:04 pm
This may sound a little odd, but I love the sound and the smell of the library and the books of course; but the sound and the smell make the library its own unique place to me!
Thanks, I'd love one of these totes!
#121 - christopher h @ 7:09 pm
love the cookbooks too
#122 - Cathryn Patrick @ 7:19 pm

our children's library is just wonderful-all kinds of activites for them, and I enjoy the adults section because its quiet!
#124 - Donna Hunt @ 8:29 pm
My favorite part about using the library is that I can chose almost any book at any time without spending a lot of money. With the prices of things lately, it's been difficult to purchase books like I used to. The price here is definitely right! Thank you for the contest!
#125 - Kristen Hendricks @ 8:58 pm
My favorite part of the library is the DVD/Games section they have. You can rent any DVD or Game you want as long as you have a library card for a minimal fee. It sure beats renting DVDs or Games from Blockbuster. This is a great giveaway and I really hope I win. Thanks.
#126 - judy brittle @ 9:01 pm
I love the library. They have so many wonderful activities for my grandchildren and they love bringing books home to read.
#127 - Tonya Froemel @ 9:31 pm
My favorite part of using the library is if you do manage to get a bookyou don't like, it doesn't matter if you read it because you can just give it back.
#128 - Debbie Bellows @ 10:55 pm
Our library has selections of DVD's you can borrow- also I like borrowing the books and returning them that way they don't become dust collectors at home!
#129 - Barbara Baker @ 11:31 pm
My favorite part about using the library is the peace and serenity that it offers it's guests. For me, since it is so very noisy in my home…the best place to go for peace and quiet and time to read is the library
#130 - Terra @ 11:38 pm
I like the fact that people can share books. When I buy books at the store I generally only read them one time and then they sit on the shelf. It seems like such a waste! The library fixes that problem!!!
#131 - Megan B. @ 11:50 pm
My favorite part is being able to read a book in peace without interruptions, like the phone ringing or people yelling for me. Thats the best!
#132 - Carol Ezovski @ 12:35 am
My favorite part of the Libary is the DVD section — and the new books!
#133 - brandy wilson @ 1:02 am
Well, it is free except for massive late fees I seem to attract!
#134 - Kathleen @ 1:14 am
I love that I can get just about anything I want (within reason) just by calling and asking, even if takes a bit of time. My daughter loves the book sales they run every so often.
#135 - Chrysa @ 1:20 am
I like that I can just sit and browse through books as much as I want and find something that I never even knew existed!
#136 - Cori Westphal @ 1:52 am
I love to teach my kids the value of books. I am an avid reader and I also cannot get thru one day without reading to my kids. I like to read all different books to them and at the same time, teach them the concept of borrowing. And respecting others things. Thanks for the great contest!
#137 - Cathie @ 2:34 am
I love so many things about our library. I love to read , everything and anything. So whatever my interest is any certain visit I can find it at our library. I have also made some lasting friends. Another closet criminologist who is a sweet great grandmother. Someone who loves time travel romances and helps me complain the library doesn't stock enough. The yound reader who is a better book reviewer than a lot I've read. Yes I do love going to our local library
#138 - Rebecca C @ 2:45 am
My favorite part of using the library is the amount of books you can get all at once! Most people can't afford to buy 10 books all at once at say Barnes and Noble, at least not regularly. If you don't like the books you purchased you can't really take them back, they don't tend to like it because you could just read them then return them I guess. If you don't like the library books you picked out you can just take it back and get another one!

#139 - Elizabeth M. @ 5:47 am
I love using the library because I don't have to pay for the books and I can reserve them if they're already checked out. Also, I can walk to the library as it's almost in my backyard!
#140 - bob @ 5:49 am
I really love the convenience and efficiency of the on-line reserve. It saves energy and time (and I can sit on my rear end without moving. LOL).
#141 - Bernadette Holbrook @ 6:47 am
I read, read, read! The librarian knows me by name, and also recommends books that I may like!
#142 - david basile @ 7:22 am

#147 - djgroz @ 9:05 am
I love the shelves where all the great Mystery books are! Thank You.
#148 - Roge @ 9:20 am
For me the best things about the library are the memories. Taking children, who are now grown, to the library for the first time, and their subsequent discovery of the access to the world that was provided in the stacks is a favorite memory journey.
#149 - Paula Harmon @ 9:21 am
My fav part of our tiny plain library is the wonderful people that work there. My kids prefer to go to our library other than other surrounding libraries with better selections, kids activities, etc…just because of the great people who work there.
#150 - Jennifer C. @ 9:27 am
I love taking my kids to the library. They get to play a little in the kids corner and they always get to leave with something (borrowed books) and it doesn't cost me a cent!
#151 - Patrice @ 9:58 am

#155 - Elena @ 10:49 am
The thing I love most about my library is that they have a perpetual used-book sale in the front–it allows me to donate my used books and magazines and purchase (for a quarter or 50 cents) pre-loved books from someone else! Thanks for the contest!
#156 - Kasey P @ 11:29 am
The best thing about the library the money saving aspect. Books are so expensive when purchased in a bookstore so a trip to the library is the perfect solution.
