My 7 1/2 year old daughter brought this book from school to complete a book report and it is by far one of the best children's books we have ever read. I was pregnant with her when the 9/11 attacks occurred, so any time I recall that day, I am overcome with emotion. I highly recommend that every child and his/her parents read this book together. It is equisitely written and illustrated and reminds us that despite all of the sadness and evil in the world, there are still beautiful, compassionate people, too.

This sounds amazing– and I just saw that both Carmen Agra Deedy and Wilson Kimeli Naiyomah are going to be at this year's National Book Festival next month in DC!
