My daughter and I recently launched www.ProductiveParenting.com which provides parents a simple, daily activity based on the age of your child. The activities are contributed by experts in early childhood and help parents engage with their preschool age children as they provide early learning experiences with them. Activities begin with simple sensory experiences for infants and progress to more challenging activities for pre-kindergartners.

I have to say that I think that you, Dawn, do a GREAT job with your kids -- interacting, teaching, and learning. But thanks for reviewing this book anyway.

I am thrilled to have found this website. I am a Mother of three and a full-time Kindergarten Teacher. I stayed at home when my three children were very small but have been teaching Kindergarten for the last 7 years. (My kids are 13, 11, and almost 9.) As an educator I am always looking to touch the lives of youngsters before they enter a Kindergarten classroom. It almost feels that there has been so much precious time lost by the time the children enter my classroom. My suggestions to any preschoolers are simple: Teach your child all those very basics like name recognition, phone number, address, shapes, colors, and even the letters of the alphabet. On the social side, your child should learn to not always be "waited on". One of the biggest struggles in my classroom is to explain to the children that there are 17 other children there as well. Self-help skills such as putting on coats and unpacking backpacks are great independent skills that will help the teacher and you too! There are such big differences in the children who enter Kindergarten well-prepared and those who are not. Please try to imagine your child in a large group with one adult. If they enter ready...we can get right into the process of learning the curriculum and build strong foundations for future educational experiences!
