My son also lives with a form of Autism--Asperger's Syndrome. Our lives dramatically changed when we received a diagnosis. Almost two years later, my sweet and challenging gift of a son is doing amazingly well in a typical Kindergarten setting at our local Elementary School. It hasn't been easy. Our savings have dwindled to nothing and we have begun borrowing from my husband's 401K in order to pay for the doctor's bills, therapy costs, special diet and supplements that are helping our son function so well and find such joy in daily life. Autism is exhausting, but it isn't what defines us.
