Twoluvcats - I know, both what they did to Arya and to Brom bothered me most.

Tonia - that's the way my kids feel. My daughter is already saying she doesn't want to see the Inkheart movie because the trailer implies that they changed a ton.

Mary Beth - My kids liked The Seeker, but we didn't even know it had come from a book, so that's probably why.

Carrie - yes, avoidance is probably the best policy.

Robin - What I don't get is that it's been proven that it is possible to adapt a book to film and not ruin it - Sense and Sensibility, Emma, the Harry Potter films.

Jennifer - I don't remember Hugh Laurie in the film - he must have had a very small role.

And even Hugh Laurie doesn't make up for it?? I have to admit that Dr. House was a huge draw from me wanting to see the movie, but it sounds like now we should just read the book and skip the movie.

When I heard the movie was coming out, I was excited. Then I watched the movie and went "huh" They did change some major things as you pointed out and it was a disappointment. I find that happens a lot with movie version of books. Very few stay true to the book.

Good post!

I didn't watch the movie because my sibs-in-law expressed the same opinion as your own. I was told to avoid it and have done so faithfully. It's a bummer when Hollywood does that, isn't it?

Oh I so agree! I hate when they butcher perfectly good books to make movies. I was so pissed off by what they did to Eragon I wound up sleeping through the whole movie.

My latest was The Seeker, based on The Dark Is Rising by Susan Cooper. They changed it so much I was yelling at the screen by the end of the movie (luckily, we watched it at home:D)
