I just want to clarify that Robert Ballard wrote a book that I bought when I was a 6th grader back in 1988. He is an Oceanographer who discovered the Titanic with his high tec robot. He was very moved by it all and always held the idea that the remains of the disaster should be left untouched. So... his words out of context seem heartless. But his book and his passion sparked my life long interest in the Titianic. I can't pass up another Titianic book, thank you for your review!

Where in the debris field were the missing bottonm sections found? I know where the bow and stern sections are and that approx 2000 ft separate them. Where in relation to the bow and stern were the bottom pieces found? Anyone know the answer? If possible, how far from the main wreck site and what direction from the bow and stern sections? thanks...

I wouldn't call myself a "Titaniac" (love that word, though!), but I enjoy the History, Discovery Channel specials and loved the museum exhibit, so this definitely sounds like a book I might want to read. BTW, Robert (Bob) Ballard isn't a reporter. He's the oceanographer who discovered not only the Titanic but the Bismarck, the USS Yorktown and other shipwrecks as well.

This sounds like something I caught parts of on the History(Discovery?) Channel sometime recently. It talked about some fatal errors in the design and building that could have led to the catastrophic fail of the ship. Fascinating stuff!
I'm not really a "titaniac", but I'm naturally curious so when they start telling us the whys of things I'm hooked!
