Great recommendations. My 11 yo is an avid reader and his favorite books (carries them everywhere–including school) are “The Dangerous Book for Boys” and “Questions and Answers”. He would love “Spyology”. My 9yo would enjoy “Castle Diary” and “Pirate Diary”. My 11yo also likes the Alex Rider series and the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paoline including Eragon, Eldest, and Brisingr.

My son is only five, so these books may be too mature for him, but they sound like the kinds of books he would love. He is always interested in looking for things and being sneaky doing it, and kings and knights are always fascinating. Thanks for the review!
