Miss Read (Dora Saint) was influenced by L.M. Montgomery, and Jan Karon was influenced by Miss Read. I feel sure that Karon's Father Tim is drawn from Vicar Henstock in the Thrush Green books. All three authors are the greatest in writing books of comfort and joy.

I'm another Miss Read fan. She is an enjoyable, quotable, delightful author.

Thanks for a great review!

The books by Miss Read are my favorite comfort reads, too! I found my first one back in 1982 and have collected all of them in the last 20 years. They're absolutely worth hunting down and enjoying - either in your personal library or the public library.

I'm so glad you reviewed Christmas at Fairacre!

I love, love, love the Miss Read books. I just finished reading a half dozen or so of them and have been trying to add to my little home collection of them. Definite comfort reading! :)
