This is my favorite book!! I've read it 3 times, but it's been about 10 years since I last picked it up. I was planning on re-reading and linking to the carnival, but of course, time got away from me. I'm so glad you picked this one for the carnival -- it's next on my list to read! Again!

"Nothing and everything." The perfect description of this wonderful book! After I finished it I began Cry, the Beloved Country, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who loved Tree. It might make a good choice for the bookclub later on in 2009!

I truly love this book. My book club read it a while back and it got mixed results though. My mom grew up in Brooklyn and for me, it was reminiscent of her life (although she wasn't really poor).

Since I didn't write a post specifically for this I didn't want to add a link, but if you want to see what my book club thought of this book you can click here.

"Nothing but everything" is such an apt description of everyday life. I caught many themes in the book but neglected to mention the strong women.

I didn't get a copy soon enough to join this carnival, but will be reading the book nonetheless. I love it so far. Have a Great Day!

Great review! I completely agree with the statement that the book is about nothing and everything...that's how I felt about it from the beginning.
