I completely agree, this was a difficult book to read – but in the end, I did like it.

I finished reading this book last month. I actually had the opportunity to interview the author BEFORE I read it, which was interesting.

This book was a challenge to read because I was an observer between two people I knew well who were dealing with the same issue. The husband had begun an emotional affair.

I found myself wanting to shake them both during the scenes with the therapist. Granted, they each are going through something terribly emotional (and I can’t imagine dealing with it with pregnancy hormones to boot!) and yet being an outsider looking in, I just wanted to shake them both and say, “Hey will you LISTEN to what the other is SAYING here?!”

I’m planning on suggesting this to my book club, because I think it would spark some interesting discussion.

I thought that this one was a difficult emotional read as well, but like you said, it’s not the writing, it’s the subject matter.

Isn’t that just the way life is? Rarely a clear-cut easy solution?

I find myself avoiding books about certain topics these days. I didn’t used to, and I’m sure I won’t always, and I don’t mind sad books — but certain topics are harder than others.
