I, too, have had mixed feelings about this children's book in the past, but I can really resonate with its messages now that I'm pushing 50 and feeling worn around the edges. Loving and being loved have made it all worthwhile.

i realy do love this book its a verry grate book a book you realy want to read to kids over and over again

Oh, I loved that book as an older kid. I even remember using parts of it for Speech competitions in high school.

Thanks for the information on the book. I have a really hard time reading The Velveteen rabbit as well. I think I have only read it to my girls one time and that was enough for me.

I'll admit that the Velveteen Rabbit is a hard one for me to read to my girls–they have so many questions about it (!) and I cry too easily anyway. This sounds like an interesting take on it.

This sounds just beautiful. I absolutely can relate to your experience with the story as I child– I cry so easily, and that story would make me sob. This presentation sounds so poignant and perfect– it's going on my Shelfari account right now!
