I didn’t write a post for this carnival, but I just wanted to say that a former colleague of mine who also taught an undergraduate level Children’s Lit course was a huge Beatrix Potter fan. Even if she hadn’t created such adorable characters and stories, she absolutely defined children’s lit as its own category. She declared that children needed little books for little hands, and she changed the way books were illustrated and stories told. Kind of a founding mother for children’s literature!

I also saw the movie, but apparently it didn’t leave a big impression on me because I completely forgot I watched it until I saw the cover on amazon. Oops.
